Mountain View Community Church

Pastor John is the husband of 25 years to Patrice Wells, and the proud father of two young adult children, Jontrice (23) and John III (20) and new grandfather of Samarra Gabrielle (2 ½ years old).  He is also the founding pastor of Mountain View Community Church , Temecula, Calif. Pastor John accepted his call into ministry in March 1982 under the Rev. Dr. H.L. Ferrell of the Grace Missionary Baptist Church , San Diego . It was there that he was licensed and ordained to preach the Gospel. While at Grace, Pastor John served as Youth Minister and Director of Youth & Young Adult Choir.

In 1978, prior to responding to the call into the ministry, he began his collegiate studies at San Diego State University and later enrolled into Southern California Bible College and Seminary (formerly Linda Vista Bible College & Seminary), where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science and Christian Education. In May 2007 Pastor John will receive a Masters of Education Leadership through Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Brea , Ca.

In July 1989 Pastor John joined the San Diego Police Department where he served for 2 1/2 years as a patrol officer working out of the Southeastern Division substation. He was later promoted to Community Relations Officer, where he served in that assignment for 3 years and then as God would have it, he was assigned as the Human Relations CORE instructor at the San Diego Regional Law Enforcement Training Center, where he was responsible for training all San Diego County law enforcement officers in that field of study, until he resigned his position in December 1996 to serve as the full time Senior Pastor of Mountain View Community Church, Murrieta/Temecula Valley.

The Birth of Mountain View Community Church : In April 1994, while serving under Rev. Dr. Timothy Winters at the Bay View Baptist Church in San Diego , Pastor Wells responded to the Lord's prompting and moved his family to the Murrieta/Temecula Valley. In July 1994, he began a Home Bible Study with just two other families, a total of seven people. By September 1994, that group had grown to over 25 people. In January 1995, Mountain View Community Church was officially organized and Pastor John was installed as the founding Pastor with a membership of 60 charter members. Under Pastor Wells leadership God has blessed Mountain View to grow to well over 1500 members. Truly Pastor Wells is leading God’s people to be on God’s agenda. MVCC opened the Mountain View Christian School in May 2000.

The Birth of Perfecting Ministries: In October 2001 Pastor John created Perfecting Ministries to respond to the need of hurting, broken and dysfunctional families.

Pastor John is a man with a heart for missions. MVCC is currently involved in the advancement of God’s kingdom locally as well as internationally.  Pastor Wells has led Mountain View on the mission field to Kenya, Ghana, China, Mexico, New Orleans and throughout California .  Most recently Mountain View Community Church has planted an off spring.  In January 2006, Pastor John planted Mountain View Community Church of Hemet Valley under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Keahey (Currently know as Diamond Valley Community Church .) Pastor John is planning on planting 4 more churches over the next 10 years. God continues to expand our territory and Mountain View continues to grow and advance the Kingdom of God !

In November 2006 Mountain View purchased 80 acres of raw land where we will build a Community ministry facility to minister and serve the community of Wildomar and surrounding cities.  The vision continues!

Pastor John has also demonstrated the importance of being involved in our community by demonstrating what it means to be salt and light by running for a seat on the Murrieta School Board. In his first bid for office he missed being elected by the small margin of just a couple hundred votes.  Truly, Pastor John is a man on Mission for the Master.  http://www.myspace.com/mvpastorwells
